SURAH 17:59 – PROOF ALLAH IS A LIAR

SURAH 17:59 – PROOF ALLAH IS A LIAR

This article is a must for Muslims. As a Muslim, are you willing to risk your eternal salvation on a deity who lies? If you truly value your eternal salvation, please read this article carefully. It will prove beyond doubt that even according to the Quran, Allah is a liar. We will provide irrefutable evidences from the Quran itself to substantiate this fact. Consider now the evidences.

According to the Quran, Allah miraculously produced a huge she-camel out of a rock. Let’s read this account in the following verse:

Surah 7:73: Indeed there has come to you a clear Sign (the miracle of the coming out of a huge she-camel from the midst of a rock) from your Lord. (Hilali-Khan)

A Clear Sign has come to you from your Lord. This is the She-Camel of Allah as a Sign for you. (A. Bewley)

Thereafter Allah reveals in the Quran that he has stopped sending miracles anymore after this event. The reason why Allah stopped sending miracles after this incident is clarified in the following Quranic verse. To help our readers to fully grasp the meaning of this Quranic verse, we have provided four different translations. Please read each one of the translations carefully:

Surah 17:59: And We refrain from sending the Sign, only because the men of former generations treated them as false: We sent the she-camel to the Thamud to open their eyes, but they treated her wrongfully: We only send the Signs by way of terror. (Yusuf Ali)

And what stopped Us from sending the signs except that the previous people disbelieved in them. And We sent to Thamud the camel with foresight, but they did her wrong. And We do not send the signs except to make them fearful. (The Monotheist Group)

And nothing prevented Us from sending the miracles except that the earlier ones denied it. And We gave Thamud the female camel, a visible sign, then they did wrong to her. And We do not send the miracles except as a scare. (Ali Bakhtiari Nejad)

Nothing hindered us from sending you with miracles, except that the former nations have charged them with imposture. We gave unto the tribe of Thamud, (at their demand), the she-camel visible (to their sight); yet they dealt unjustly with her: And we send not a prophet with miracles but to strike terror. (Sale)

The specific miracle in this instant was a miraculous she-camel that Allah produced out of a rock to appear to the people of Thamud. The miracle was sent to “open their eyes” but instead they defiantly killed the she-camel of Allah. (Surah 11:64-65) As a result of their insolent act, Allah decided to stop sending miracles anymore in the future. Therefore according to the Quran, the final miracle of Allah was the miraculous she-camel that he produced for the people of Thamud. We can learn many essential details from this account in Surah 17:59. We will now analyze them carefully to expose the deception of Allah:

ONE: This Quranic verse specifies the reason why Allah stopped sending miracles. Allah found it futile to send miracles anymore “because the men of former generations treated them as false.” In other words, the reason why Allah stopped sending miracles is because the people in the past did not believe in them. The miracles of Allah were ineffective in convincing the people.

However, contrary to this claim of Allah, multitudes of the “former generations” of Jews and Christians, who lived before the time of Muhammad, believed and demonstrated strong faith in the miracles performed by both Moses and Jesus. The Quran itself admits that even the magic practicing priest of Egypt abandoned their demonic practices and repented when they witnessed the powerful miracles performed by Moses. (Surah 7:113-122) Even under the threat of death by crucifixion, the repentant sorcerers boldly testified:

Surah 7:125: “We will certainly return to Our Lord.” (Sarwar)

TWO: Surah 17:59 helps us to identify the time period when Allah decided to stop sending miracles. It reveals that he stopped sending miracles long before the time of Muhammad. More on this later.

THREE: Allah concluded Surah 17:59 on a threatening note. After stating that he has stopped sending miracles anymore, Allah declared:

“We do not send the Signs except to make them fearful.”

The following translation is even more explicit:

“We send not a prophet with miracles but to strike terror.”

This means that instead of sending uplifting miracles such as the restoration of sight to the blind or healing the leprous or bringing back the dead to life, Allah now wants to terrorize the unbelievers into submission. However, even this attempt to terrorize the unbelievers fails. In the very next verse Allah admits that even this act of terrorizing the unbelievers only increases their transgression:

Surah 17:60: “We put terror and warning into them, but it only increases their inordinate transgression!” (Yusuf Ali)

It is hard to imagine how Muslims can put faith in this lame excuse of Allah. Allah is in effect saying: “We don’t do miracles anymore because the people of Thamud killed our she-camel.” This Quranic verse is significant because we can really feel a sense of defeat in Allah at the hands of mere humans. However, even more damaging is the fact that this Quranic verse proves that Allah is a preposterous liar when he made this claim in Surah 17:59. Why do we say that? Consider now the evidences which clearly prove that Allah lied when he made this claim in the Quran.

A GOD WHO LIES

More than twenty passages in the Quran reveal that whenever the contemporaries of Muhammad asked him to perform miracles, he either remained silent or confessed he could not. He confessed that he was just an ordinary human messenger. The most explicit of this admission can be found in the following Quranic verses:

Surah 17:90-93: They said, “We will not believe you unless you cause a spring to gush out of the ground. Or unless you own a garden of date palms and grapes, with rivers running through it. Or unless you cause masses from the sky, as you claimed, to fall on us. Or unless you bring God and the angels before our eyes. Or unless you own a luxurious mansion, or unless you climb into the sky. Even if you do climb, we will not believe unless you bring a book that we can read.” Say, “Glory be to my Lord. Am I any more than a human messenger?” (Khalifa)

The former prophets who performed miracles, are they not “human messengers” just like Muhammad? We will now analyze Surah 17:59 once again but from a different perspective. Our objective is to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that Allah is a liar and the Quran is a lie. To begin, we will first establish that according to the Quran, it was the Prophet Salih who was sent to the people of Thamud during the tragedy of the she-camel:

Surah 7:73: To the Thamud people (We sent) Salih, one of their own brethren: He said: “O my people! Worship Allah: ye have no other god but Him. Now hath come unto you a clear Sign from your Lord! This she-camel of Allah is a Sign unto you: So leave her to graze in Allah’s earth, and let her come to no harm, or ye shall be seized with a grievous punishment.”

Surah 7:75: The leaders of the arrogant party among his people said to those who were reckoned powerless – those among them who believed: “know ye indeed that Salih is a messenger from his Lord?” They said: “We do indeed believe in the revelation which hath been sent through him.”

Surah 7:77: Then they ham-strung the she-camel, and insolently defied the order of their Lord, saying: “O Salih! Bring about thy threats, if thou art an apostle of God!”  (Yusuf Ali)

As a result of the insolent act of the people of Thamud, Allah stopped sending miracles anymore. Surah 17:59 clearly acknowledges this decision of Allah to stop sending miracles. Even though the Quran does not specifically mention the time period when the Prophet Salih was sent to the people of Thamud, we can say with certainty that it was before the time of Jesus Christ. Why can we be sure of that? Because according to Muhammad himself, there were no prophets or apostles between the time of Jesus and Muhammad. In other words, the only “prophet” who was sent after Jesus was Muhammad.

Sahih Muslim, Book 030, Number 5835:

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: I am most akin to Jesus Christ among the whole of mankind, and all the Prophets are of different mothers but belong to one religion and no Prophet was raised between me and Jesus.

In the above Hadith, Muhammad declared: “no Prophet was raised between me and Jesus.” Thus, the Prophet Salih could not have been sent after the arrival of Jesus but before. Otherwise, it would place him between Jesus and Muhammad. Therefore, Allah must have stopped sending miracles long before Jesus set foot on earth. Yet, the Quran admits that Jesus performed many miracles. It even specifies the nature of his miracles. But what is significant is the Quran’s proclamation that Jesus performed these miracles “with Allah’s permission.” Read the following Quranic verse carefully:

Surah 3:49: And I (Jesus) heal the blind and the leprous, and bring the dead to life with Allah’s permission. (Shakir)

How can this be possible? Since Allah himself testified that he has “stopped sending miracles” long before the time of Jesus, how can he then claim to be the source behind the powerful miracles performed by Jesus? This proves that the claims of Allah in the Quran that he was the originator of the miracles of Jesus are blatant lies. By his own admission, Allah simply could not be the source behind the powerful miraculous works of Jesus. He simply could not be the originator of the miracles which Jesus performed while he was on earth. This raises vital questions regarding the true source behind the inspiration of the Quran. It certainly cannot be the same Almighty God who empowered Jesus with miracles.

Since the Quran itself states that Allah has stopped sending miracles long before the arrival of Jesus, Muslims are faced with a dilemma. For Muslims to accept the Quran’s testimony of the miracles of Jesus, they would have to now acknowledge the fact that Allah is a liar. How are Muslims going to reconcile Allah’s statement to the effect that he has stopped sending miracles after the people of Thamud killed his miraculous she-camel with his claim in the Quran that he performed many miracles through Jesus Christ? Which of these two statements is true? Allah clearly lied in the Quran when he said:

Surah 2:87: “We gave Jesus, son of Mary, profound miracles and supported him with the Holy Spirit.” (Khalifa)

Furthermore, since Surah 17:59 also proves that Allah has “stopped sending miracles” long before the time of Muhammad, how can Muslims then claim that Muhammad performed many outstanding miracles? Hence, if the Quran is true, then Muhammad could not have performed any miracles as Muslims claim. Therefore, each time Muslims claim that Muhammad performed miracles, they are in fact admitting that Allah lied in the Quran when he testified that he has “stopped sending miracles.”

Whenever Allah wants to make an impact on his audience, he talked about the miracles that he supposedly performed through the earlier prophets of God. However, when the people of Muhammad’s time demanded miracles to prove his divinity, he dodged them by saying: “I have stopped sending miracles, as people in the past did not believe in them.” Allah deceptively claims whatever is necessary to deceive us. This manipulative behavior of Allah not only proves he is a liar but it also proves that he is a fraud. Allah cannot be trusted.

When Muhammad was questioned by his contemporaries why he could not perform miracles, Allah could not answer them with a miracle. Note carefully how the “miracle-less” Allah evaded their challenge by drawing attention to the miracles in the Holy Bible. He pointed to the miracles in the Bible as evidence of the miracles that they were demanding. Four different translations of this vital Quranic verse are provided below:

Surah 20:133: And they say, “Why does he not bring us a miracle from his Lord?” Were they not given enough miracles in the former Scriptures? (Talal A. Itani)

They have said, “Why has he, (Muhammad), not brought some miracle from his Lord?” Have they not received the previously revealed heavenly Books as the evidence of the Truth? (Sarwar)

They said, “If he could only show us a miracle from his Lord!” Did they not receive sufficient miracles with the previous messages? (Khalifa)

They say: “Why does he not bring us a sign (proof) from his Lord?” Has there not come to them the proof of that which is written in the former Scriptures (the Torah and the Gospel). (Hilali-Khan)

As clarified in Hilali-Khan’s translation, the “former Scriptures” are none other than the Torah and the Gospel. This proves that evidences of authentic miracles can only be found in the Bible. Therefore, the originator of those miracles cannot be Allah but the One who inspired the writings of the Holy Bible. For Muslims to know the truth about miracles, they must obey the commandment in the Quran to examine the inspired evidences in the Holy Bible.

Not only Allah failed to perform miracles but he also lied to cover up his failure. Muslims must realize that it is not an outside source but evidences in the Quran itself prove Allah is a liar. The fact that the Quran itself testifies that Jesus performed numerous miracles after the time of the Prophet Salih confirms the undeniable truth that not only is Allah a liar but also an impostor. Is it not clear that Allah is pretending to be the source behind the powerful miracles of Jesus? Who then is the true Source behind the powerful miracles performed by Jesus? His divine name is identified as Jehovah in the Holy Bible:

Psalm 83:18: You, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

It was Jehovah who “anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit” and empowered him to perform many powerful miracles. And the Bible testifies to this undeniable truth:

Acts 10:38: You know how God anointed Jesus from Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Jesus went through the land doing good and healing all those oppressed by the Devil. Jesus did these things because God was with him.

Acknowledging this undeniable truth, Allah is forced to admit that true miracles can only be found in the Holy Bible. This is because the Originator of true miracles is Jehovah – the God of the Bible.

A GOD OF TRUTH

In contrast to Allah, the Bible testifies that it is impossible for the true God to lie:

Hebrews 6:18: It is impossible for God to lie.

It is impossible for the true God to lie. By his very nature Jehovah cannot lie. Therefore, the Holy Bible which he revealed to us must be absolutely true. Christians must always treasure this divine quality of their God each time they study His Word, each time they pray to Him and each time they reach out for His love. Yes! God cannot lie. What a grand privilege to worship a God of such integrity. What a grand blessing it is to worship Jehovah our heavenly Father.

In contrast, Allah fabricated lies in the Quran. This invalidates the Quran as the Word of God. Who then is this lying deity behind the inspiration of the Quran? We will let the Bible answer. The Bible reveals the following truth concerning the characteristics of Satan:

John 8:44: He was a murderer from the beginning, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own character, for he is a liar and the father of the lie.

The Bible identifies Satan the Devil as a “liar and the father of the lie.” Is it not a little suspicious that Allah exhibits the same deceptive character of Satan? This should alert sincere Muslims. And this gives us another convincing reason to reject Islam.
